• Notes

  On 16 Oct 1906, the following obit appeared in the Halifax Evening Mail (page 12): “GLACE BAY, October 15 - Meda SLONWHITE, a driver in the Hub collieries, was instantly killed today in the Hub colliery by a fall of stone. SLONWHITE, it is presumed, whipped up his horse when a box of coal got off the track, and the box striking a prop dislodged a boom, letting down a mass of stone upon him from the roof. SLONWHITE was 19 years of age. His parents formerly came from Halifax, but are now residing at Marble Mountain.”
