  • Notes
    • The 1881 census shows a James W. CLANCY, age 2, and the 1891 shows a James CLANCY, age 13, and there is no male CLANCY born to this family after 1881 in the 1891 Census. On the other hand, there is no OLMC birth/baptism record for a James CLANCY born to this family before 1881, but there is one for a James born 12 Oct 1883 and baptised 27 Oct 1883. However, this 27 Oct 1883 birth is contradicted by the fact that the OLMC register also shows a daughter--Ellen Jane--born to these same parents 3 months earlier on 6 July 1883.

Barring discovery of further evidence, I tend to believe that the James W. of the 1881 and 1891 censuses is the James William who appears in the register, and that he was actually born and baptised in 1879. The reason for this tendency is that there are 1879 entries in the OLMC register that also mysteriously appear in 1883. [Bob H]
