• Notes

  On Friday eve, last, Benj. SLAUNWHITE, Mahone Bay, N.S., on withdrawing from the presence of his family stated that he intended going into the cellar for some apples, and not returning in due time the family became anxious, instituting a search. Some hours later the lifeless body of Mr. S. was found in a brook near the house. There is evidence showing that, in walking across an icy plank laid across the brook, he slipped and struck his head against a stone, became unconscious, rolled into the brook and then lost his life.
