- Some genealogies have an Ida Price, who marries a James DeWOLFE, as d/o Emma Jane CROWELL 1833 and Jenkins PRICE. Now the Ida May PRICE who m. James F. J. DeWOLFE is b. 14 Feb 1882 at Montague Mines, and she has a younger sister, Emma, who is b. 9 May 1883 at Montague Mines [NSHVS]. Both are the children of Jenkins and Emma Jane (CROWELL) PRICE, as advertised. The problem is this. First, the birth of that Emma Jane CROWELL is placed in 1848 by the 1881 Census and 1851 by the 1891 Census. And second, if Emma is actually born abt 1833, she is getting a bit long of tooth to be be having two daughters in rapid succession at age 49 and 50, which makes me think that the Census dates are more accurate. But, if she is born 1848 - 1851, then her mother--Catherine CROOKS--is even longer of tooth (at least age 50) when she is born.
While it physically possible for Emma to have two children at age 50, and it's also possible that both censuses are way off base, I think the solution is that it's the wrong Emma CROWELL.
