    Notes
    • The OLMC parish register entry for the marriage of Dennis BROPHY and Adelaide NORRIS states that the groom's parents were Thomas BROPHY and Frances BLACKBURN. However, the 1901 Census of Terence Bay states Dennis BROPHY, h/o Adelaide, was b. 24 Mar 1862 and that the marriage occurs in Lower Prospect, and the OLMC register states that Dennis BROPHY, s/o James BROPHY and Ann RYAN was b. 24 Mar 1862 in Lower Prospect.

We know that Ann RYAN dies somewhere in the 1860's, and in 1866 her husband marries Ann BLACKBURN; so the surnames match the marriage register entries for the parents of Dennis. Further, (at least at this moment) I know of no Thomas BROPHY's or Frances BLACKBURN's who could have been the parents of Dennis. So one of two things may have happened; i.e., either James BROPHY and Ann BLACKBURN also went by other given or nicknames, or the OLMC parish register is in error (which is known to occur during this time frame). In either event, I believe the evidence is convincing that it was Dennis, s/o James and Ann (Ryan) BROPHY, who marries Adelaide NORRIS.

Also noted is that the obit for John Patrick Brophy, son of Dennis and Adalaide, states that he had 11 brothers and sisters; to date, I know of only 8. [Bob H]
