Notes |
- In the 1871 Census of Petite Riviere, in the household of Daniel and Drucilla MOSER (#247) we also find Matthew MOSER age 85, Elizabeth MOSER, age 75, and Hannah MOSER, age 41. And, in the same Census of Petite Riviere, in household #218, we see Isaiah JOHNSON and wife Hannah JOHNSON. This would lead one to suspect that the wife of Isaiah JOHNSON is not the d/o Matthew and Elizabeth MOSER.
However, in every census from 1871 to 1911, Hannah MOSER's DOB consistently agrees with an 1829 DOB, while Hannah (MOSER) JOHNSON's DOB consistently agrees with an 1825 DOB. And also there are these two Petite Riviere Methodist Church Register [Shankle-transcribed] baptismal record entries:
JOHNSON Samuel Henry B 1854-06-12 1854-09-17 PRUC Thomas Israel & Hanna Eliz Moser d/Mathias & Eliz
JOHNSON, Thos Isaiah & Hanna Eliz Moser d/Mat, Eliz Ann, 1856-09-27, 1856-11-16, PRUC, Petite Riviere
So, since we know that both Hannah's were residents of Petitie Riviere in 1871, the weight of evidence would appear to suggest that the Hannah MOSER who appears with Matthew, Elizabeth, and their son Daniel in 1871 is simply a lodger and not a daughter.
