  It's possible that the mother shown as (--?--) MATTHEWS on his death certificate was actually Martha SLAUENWHITE, but a grandchild of Vincent BARTLETT was told by her parents that she was "not related" to Effie and Teresa, the children of John Henry and Martha (SLAUENWHITE) BARTLETT. Also there is an 1890 petition showing that, when John Henry BARTLETT moved to Terence Bay in 1880 to become a teacher there, he was accompanied by a one year old son. So the notion that Martha SLAUENWWHITE was Vincent's mother seems highly improbable.
