Notes - Some have held that this John Henry KOCK m. Elinor James; however, I believe this is not the case.
First, note that in the LWT of the John KOCH who m. Elinor JAMES, two of the executors are brother Henry KOCH and brother-in-law Philip SPONAGLE (who m. Ann KOCH). So we are looking for a family with siblings, Ann, Henry and John.
Second, let's look at dates. Philip SPONAGLE m. Ann Koch in 1815, and John Koch m. Elinor James in 1813, so I expect that brother Henry probably marries around that time as well. This means that we are looking for a KOCH family with an Ann, a John, and probably a Henry, all born before 1800. Also, we know that Elinor James appears to be born in 1792, and Philip SPONAGLE is b. 1781.
Third, there is no KOCH family with two sons named Henry. So it cannot be John Henry 1797 who m. Elinor JAMES, beCAUSe he does not have a brother Henry who could become his executor.
Fortunately, the family we are looking for does exist-- it is that of Johann Heinrich KOCH 1734 and his wife Anna Elisabetha Euphronia (Veronica) HYSON. And the proof that this is the correct family is in the LWT of "Elizaphronie" KOCH, which names daughter Ann SPONAGLE as an heir. This also means that Henry is Johann Heinrich (Henry) KOCH 1771 who m. Anna Magdalena MOSER. He dies in 1842, but brother John dies in 1828 so there is plenty of time for Henry to be his executor.
As to John, h/o Eleanor James, besides the usual collection of sons with the honorific name of Johann, it appears that Heinrich and Veronica actually had a son named John (probably Johannes); so I will guess that it is he who m. Elinor. But beCAUSe I'm really only interested in showing that Elinor James didn't marry John Henry KOCH 1797, proving the actual identity of said John is left as an exercise for the reader. :-)
And finally, note that this explains why Henry and Magdalena KOCH are the sponsors of the John and Elinor's second child--Henry is the child's uncle. [Bob H] - Some have held that this John Henry KOCK m. Elinor James; however, I believe this is not the case.
