- The wife of John Lewis SARTY--Elizabeth CORKUM--can, I believe be identified, owing to a curious set of circumstances, beginning with the fact that her marriage record puts her birth at abt. 1815.
In the 1881 Census of Pleasantville, living with the family of her son Jacob Henry is one Sophia HUBLEY, b. 1858, who goes on to marry James Allan SLAUENWHITE, also of Pleasantville, shortly thereafter (in Jan 1882). James Allan SLAUENWHITE is the son of Rachel Elizabeth (CORKUM) SLAUENWHITE, d/o William and Johanna (SCHLUTER) CORKUM.
So why would Sophia be living with Jacob Henry SARTY. I believe the answer is that Jacob's mother is the sister of the Rachel Eizabeth (CORKUM) SLAUENWHITE, whose son is about to marry said Sophia HUBLEY. [Bob H]
