Family Catherine PORTEOUS, b. 11 Oct 1836, County Cavan, Ireland d. 11 May 1921, Lindsay, Victoria, ON (Age 84 years) Marriage 9 Feb 1859 Mariposa, Victoria, ON [3] - The 1859 ON marriage record for one Charles Daniel JOHNSTON states that he was born in County Cavan, Ireland [where his wife was born] of parents John and James JOHNSTON. However, he is living in Mariposa, ON at the time and the census consistently states that he was born in NS. Further the marriage record appears to have her at least her father's name in error. So I tend to believe that a registry clerk mis-copied something and that this Charles is the s/o William and Catherine (IRWIN) JOHNSTON.
