  • Notes
    • Cruikshank's lists the parents of John Cecil SLAUNWHITE as Lester SLAUNWHITE and Lillian SLAUNWHITE and his place of birth and death as Terence Bay.

I cannot find a Lester SLAUNWHITE married to a Lillian SLAUNWHITE, in any location, but there is a Henry Aldon SLAUNWHITE, s/o Ted SLAUNWHITE and Mary Laura Abigail JOLLIMORE, who is married to a Lillian SLAUNWHITE, d/o Trenaman, and they are born and live in Terence Bay. Further, they have a son named Lester, another named William Cecil, and yet another named John (who lives to adulthood). There are no Lesters on either side of the family; however, Lillian does have a brother named Cecil.

There seem to be three realistic possibilities:

      a. Lillian's husband was known as Lester. This is improbable since it is known that he went by the name of Aldon.

      b. The “Lester” in Cruikshank's records is an error. This would certainly not be the first such mistake.

      c. Lillian was married twice, first to Lester then to Henry Aldon. But every last SLAUENWHITE I know of who carried the name Lester seems to be ruled out, for one reason or another, as the father in this picture.

So, pending discovery of further evidence, choice b. seems most likely. [Bob H]
