- Although my first guess was that Anna Maria was actually Johanna CORKUM b. 5 Jun 1822 to Johann Wilhelm and Johanna Catherine (SCHLUTER) CORKUM, I currently suspect that she belongs to Johannes 1786 and Catherine Margaret (HAUGHN) 1789 CORKUM for four reasons:
a. From the start, there has been a little voice in my head telling me that Hannah b. 5 Jun 1822, probably at CORKUM's Island, and Anna Maria b. 4 Aug 1822 [if the 1901 Census is to be believed], just don't seem like the same person.
b. In 1881, Anna Maria is residing with Gabriel CORKUM, s/o George b. abt 1827 and Mary Catherine Caroline (CONRAD) CORKUM. This suggest that Anna Maria and Gabriel are related and, in fact, if Anna Maria were d/o Johannes and Catherine Margaret (HAUGHN) CORKUM, Gabriel would be her nephew.
c. In 1901, Anna Maria is residing in the household of her daughter Anne and Anne's husband, Phineas Leander MASON, and their next-door neighbor is said Gabriel above.
d. Gail Edwards lists seven children for Johannes and Catherine Margaret (HAUGHN) CORKUM, but there is an eight year gap between Betsy 1819 and George 1827 into which Anna Maria fits very nicely.
