- On her marriage return slip, Josephine gives her parents as Henry and Mary HARNISH, and there are two possible sets of parents: first, Henry and Mary HARNISH; and second, Henry Isaac and Mary Ann Elizabeth (Wamboldt) HARNISH.
In addition to her parents' names, we know that she is married in the city of Halifax and that one of the witnesses is a Mary Jane HARNISH. There are no known Mary Jane HARNISH's anywhere near the right age, nor are there any Jane's. So the witness is probably someone we know only as Mary HARNISH, and also probably a close relative.
As to Henry Issac and Mary Elizabeth WAMBOLDT, we know that, if she were their daughter, she would have moved to Sober Island. In fact, all of he older and younger siblings settle or marry there. But she marries Albert HUBLEY, who lives somewhere close to French Village, and the couple then lives for a while somewhere around Blandford, Lunenburg, where their first two children are born. Also, If she were born into this family, her closest sibling would be born within seven months of her birth.
As to Henry and Mary HARNISH, we know first that they are living in the city of Halifax when Josephine marries there. We also know that they have a daughter named Mary who, if Josephine belonged in this family, would be her closest sibling. Also, a gggrandaughter sates that Josephine's parents were Henry HARNISH and Mary Ann JENNINGS.
For these reasons, I think it is all but certain that Josephine is the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann (Jennings) HARNISH [Bob H]
