    Notes
    • The identity of the wife of George Caspar LEVY has never been proven; however, the following circumstantial evidence all points in only direction:

      a. Some people have her as Eliza Jane BAKER, and there is an Eliza Jane BAKER, b. 8 Feb 1832, d/o George [Hulty] and Elizabeth (VEINOT) BAKER. However, none of the marriage records for five of Caspar's children names her Eliza Jane. Further, the marriage record for daughter Emma names her "Eliza A."

      b. In the 1881 Census, in the household of Caspar and Eliza LEVY, we find one Sarah BAKER, age 54. A search of all the Sarah's who were born or married a Tancook BAKER produced only on born in the right time frame. She is Sarah, d/o John Jacob and Catherine Margaret (TANNER) and she has a sister, Anna Elizabeth BAKER, who is the same age as the wife of Caspar LEVY.

      c. The death of Catherine Margaret (TANNER) BAKER, mother of Sarah and Ann Elizabeth BAKER, is reported by one Caspar LEVY, apparently of Little Tancook, and this would appear to be the Caspar LEVY who is h/o Eliza. And while it is possible that he is simply a neighbor, it seems much more likely that the widowed Catherine Margaret takes up residence with a daughter after her husbands death.

      d. In the 1891 Census, Nathaniel LEVY of Little Tancook can easily be identified as the s/o Caspar LEVY. Living with him is Anna Levy, married, age 60. Caspar LEVY can be found living in a mental hospital, and Nathaniel's mother-in -law is named Regina, so one would assume that this is his mother.

Therefore I believe that the wife of George Caspar LEVY is this Anna Elizabeth BAKER. [Bob H]
